MUNCHY DONUTS

Forget Donut Factory!
After trying the sweet things at Munchy Donut, I bet you won't be tempted to Q at Donut Fac anymore!!!

I bought a box of 6 donuts last Friday and boy were they awesome!!!!!
The flavors chosen were Choz O' Nutter (Choc-dipped donut with peanut butter filling), Typhoon Oreo (Donut coated with white choc and sprinkled with lots of Oreo bits), Choz O' Latte (White choc coated with coffee cream filling), Munchy Original (Soft and fluffy sugar-sprinkled), O'Shoik (Bitter-sweet choc coated) and Silly-Mon (White choc coated with cinnamon sprinkles).

**there aint any photos cuz the donuts were gobbled up oh-too-quickly...

Homecooked Lunch

yay lunch!

The girlfriend and I cooked lunch a couple of weekends ago. Couldn't cook that many dishes since there was only the both of us. So decided on a soup and prawn omelette!

Fishball Soup

We boiled water and cooked the soup from scratched. However, we ran into some problems midway. Soup tasted bland so we just kept adding salt and MSG, it did have some taste to it eventually but the girlfriend thought the MSG taste was very strong. Oh wells.

Prawn Omelette

This is our favourite! Added chili padi into the egg with the prawns and for seasonings, we had fish sauce and soy sauce. We tried to make a full circle but it was hard trying to flip the egg so we ended up smashing it into smaller pieces eventually.

Elinn and I went to Colbar@One-North today and we ordered:

Spaghetti on Toast

Mushroom on Toast

And we both had A & W Root Beer to go along with the food:
Quite Old-School uh? =P

Elinn is addicted to the spaghetti on toast that i think she's going to try making it on her own someday. Apart from the food, i love the place because it's a perfect place where you can relax and immerse yourself in the good old kampung days. =)

Waraku

It was my lucky day because my brother treated me and his girlfriend to Waraku ( Japanese Casual Dining). The ramen was great, the sushi was fresh and the pancake was delicious!
Here:

The Ramen Bowl is Huge! I had my ramen in Miso base and it taste real good!!
The sushi are made only after you have ordered them.. so it's really fresh! The rice is soft and the fillings are warm! (a little note: the Wasabi is also fresher than those we got from the usual sushi outlets)
Ramen in Stone bowl - you are able to enjoy piping hot ramen and soup for about 15 mins! Excellent for people like me who like their food to be hot. ( but i didn't eat this, my brother did.)
Japanese Pancake - Tastes somewhat like Tako Pachi, just that it's filled with vegetables. So for people who like tako pachi and don't mind cabbage ( if im not wrong about it. it's quite nice actually), you're sure to like this one!

There are quite a few Waraku branches in Singapore. The one we went to was at :
51 Cuppage Road #01-12 Starhub Centre Singapore 229469

****Edits!****
Oooh everyone's going to Waraku, but seriously the food is worth it.
Its fresh and the service there is good.
Not to mention that they have hand towels in the toilet at the outlet I went, Marina Sq. =P

Nuts for Donuts!

With the newly set-up designated queue area at Donut Factory over at Suntec City, we managed to avoid the long queue and still get to sink our teeth into the much raved about donuts. Only exception at this new queue line is you can only buy a maximum of 2 donuts. No one said anything about queuing over and over again though. :P

We got the Peanut and Strawberry White Chocolate and it came as a set together with a cup of coffee of your choice. Great huh?

Jac came down and she got the set again. Shared a Mint Dark Chocolate and Jac had the Coffee. The coffee one had almond flakes over it. Donuts were good, quite different from the ones we are used to which taste like bread just sweeter. These donuts were softer and slightly air-y. The flavours were very rich and very good!

Surabaya Ayam Penyet!

What do you like about Ayam Penyet?
Is it the yummy juicy chicken?
The crispy crunchy crumbs?
or is it the super-duper-numbing belacan chilli?

I say its all of them!
The combination simply rocks,
plus I love the soft and fluffy white rice they serve.
(I do not like hard rice..it gives me hiccups =/)They serve Fried Catfish as well!
I think its really good.
The meat is really tender and tasty.

Should try the many varieties of fried stuff on their menu.
Everyone seems to be enjoying their food.
Oh! Soto Ayam!
We didn't order this initially, we wanted clear spinach soup,
but it was sold out and
we surely didn't regret changing our order to this one!
I really liked the taste of it, reminds me of my Primary School days =)
Ah! This is interesting!
Cola with milk.
Try it for yourself! ;)

Oh! Before I forget, Surabaya Ayam Penyet is at Lucky Plaza level 2!
If I'm not wrong, its #02-63..somewhere there..
heh.

I'm so sorry that this post should have been up ages ago and i am just doing it now.. Well, better than not being up at all right? =P Alright, presenting to you aahaan Thai from the Thai Bazzar held at the Thai Embassy not too long ago:

This lady is really great: she handles everything by herself and she's so natural that you wouldnt even notice!
Mango Salad!
I gotta say i like her mango salad, though it's not as spicy as the one i ate last year.
Tom Yum Kuay Tiao Soup:
we expected it to be more spicy.. it's kinda too mild for a tom yum.

This is my FAVE!!! Chicken wing!! It's so juicy! ~yummy.
Phat Thai:
I waited for very long to get this packet..
Squeeze in the lime and stir in the peanuts and chilli.
Phat Thai is GREAT like that. *drools*

Ramen, Ramen, Ramen

I've been having the strongest cravings for ramen despite eating it for nearly 3 days a few weeks back and having it again for supper on Friday night. The firmness of the noodles with it's strong flavors, the aromatic smell and distinct stock of the soup, the wonderful flavor from the meat.. god, give me my ramen now!!

Sweet Food to Combat Monday Blues

I went to work with monday blues last week (hmm.. it's every week to be exact, but last week blues was real bad ) I pulled through the day with the the kind offer from my colleague. She baked pastry and brought it to the office and i have extra goodie besides the quiche everyone else had. =P I like the Cream Horn because the pastry flakes were very crispy and filling tasted just nice - the sweetness was just right.

Cream Horn

Quiche

Then after work, I met with up a fren to go for Ice cream. Ice cream is happy food! And i did feel better after the Ice cream. The ice cream palour I went to is a newly opened franchise from Australia - Cold Rock. You can mix your ice cream of different flvours/ toppings. I had Macademia with Mango Ice cream mixed into Violet crumble and Strawberry. Odd combi it may seems but it's quite tasty at the end of the day:

My mix of ice cream
They have a wide variety of toppings for you to mix into. And even before you step into the ice cream palour, you can smell something very sweet. My friend and I concluded it's the smell of the bubblegum flavour ice cream. I haven't try it yet. Perhaps you should. So do visit Cold Rock situated in Holland Village, it's right beside Spizza. =)

P.S: Sorry for the awful pictures taken. My monday blues was a hindrance to me taking decent, presentable pictures. so pardon me.

Bangkok Food Part 1

Was in Bangkok a month ago with the girlfriend. I think Thailand will be one of the country I'll always feel so comfortable in despite everything being so foreign to me. And one thing, I'll never get enough of their food! We blew most of our money on food and I have pretty decent photos to share. Will be posting them up in parts so just hope I don't get lazy!

teriyaki chicken rice

This was what we ate for dinner upon arrival. Chester's Grill can be found in most parts of Bangkok and the price's pretty reasonable considering that the food is good! The girlfriend had this, Teriyaki Chicken Rice.

roasted chicken rice

I had this, the Roasted Chicken Rice. The meat they used was dark meat which I looooove. Rice was soft and fragrant. I didn't like the thick gravy that they drizzled over the top of the rice though.

Carl's is the way to go!

I loveeeeee the onion rings from Carl's Jr.
Seriously, they're BIG, crunchy, nicely breaded and smells really good.
Besides that, the plus point comes from the do-it-yourself Salsa Dip at the self-help condiments station.
I love salsa to the max!!We had a chicken burger this time, unlike the usual beef ones.
Bacon Swiss Crispy Chicken Sandwich.
Its Juicy.
The chicken is BIG (not unusual), the nice salty bacon is crispy, and the combi of melty swiss cheese and mayo makes for an all-time sinful delight!I like it when patties are bigger than the bread bun =P

Japanese Curry

Want to cook some Japanese Curry at home? Easy!
Grab a pack of Vermont Curry Cubes from any supermarket and just follow the instructions! =)

Vermont Curry: Curry with a Touch of Apple and Honey

Step One: Stir-fry the onions, potato and carrots in oil for several minutes/ till you deem it's okie.

Step Two: Add one cup of water in. Add in the meat too ( I used pork). I added the meat here but not in step one because I do not want to the meat to be too tough.

Step Three: Add in 2 cubes of Vermont Curry. Then stir.

Ta- da! Serve the curry with rice =)

Can't Decide on Your Drinks?

Overwhelming choices can make one pretty indecisive at times... So at the end of day, one might be so tired or frustrated with making choices that he or she would just say, "Anything la!" and perhaps "Whatever la" too. No worries about wasting your brain cells on what to drink next time cos there's :

Whatever!

Anything is available too! The difference between Whatever and Anything is that- the latter is carbonated. Well, you still have to make your choice of having carbonated or non-carbonated drink. Hmm.. at least it's better than deciding among overwhelming choices right? haha =P

Crepes, crepes, crepes

This post will go down as one of my most efficient and prompt entries of late. Highly attributed to the fact that photos was sent to me very quickly and I was bugged to post this.

Anyway, we had desserts at Crepes & Cream on Thursday night. This place serves dessert crepes and crepes as mains and each crepe, regardless of the ingredient in it, cost only $3.90! This makes is very, very affordable. Only minus point about it is that the ingredients used, like the bananas, were really very minimal but I guess that's expected considering the cost. But on a general note, the crepes managed to satisfy our growling tummy!

Mango Tango: with vanilla ice cream (because they were out of mango), mango bits and drizzled with syrup.

Carribean Cruise: with vanilla ice cream, banana slices and drizzled with chocolate sauce.

Choco Crave: with chocolate ice cream, crunched brownie bits and drizzled with chocolate sauce.

Hmm.. it's a Tofu! nono.. it's a Cheesecake!! nono~~ It's Tofu Cheesecake!

Tofu Cheesecake:
Taste like Philadelphia Cheesecake. I like it! =)
Forgot the exact name of this cake, but it's Green Tea cake. Not too bad.

I must say I like the plates and the aesthetic display of the food. It just make your desserts more yummy~
